"Wayne Gudmundson’s landscapes of North Dakota document a place most people dismiss as uninteresting, but his pictures prove us wrong as they record there a grandeur that we thought had been entirely lost with the passing of frontier America.
The obstacles that confronted Gudmundson, particularly in winter must have been severe. Geography like the one in which he worked is recorded convincingly only by the most ardent commitment and patience. The pictures have to appear unforced if viewers are to find them different from the clichés they have learned to reject, and Gudmundson’s views have this difficult appearance of ease. They are the best current, composite picture of their subject of which I know.”

Just like Simon Bate's i randomly came across Gudmundson's work through researching other artist's, and I'm glad i did. i find it so interesting to gain and insight into the world of another photographer and the place in which they live and the little things they notice. I can make many similarities between our work but mostly within his black and white images the tonal/silver colours present within his images are near of perfect his use of exposure and light allows dark and light pigments to appear and disappear a great example of film photography. time of day and light is a key factor i found when shooting my film, i preferred either clear skies or a full cloudy over cast, i don't like clouds, i feel they break up the image.
