Michael Marten

Born in london, Michael started taking photographs as a teenager and has been involved with the process ever since. dedicating most of his career to writting and book making, its since 2003 that he has mainly concentrated on his personal landscape photography. His first series was 'five walks on Ansty Down' (2004), he has also been working on a series entitles 'Sea change', exploring the study of tidal changes, it is this project that most relates to me. Marten states "We all know our landscape is constantly changing, but as we live in the moment we rarely perceive a dramatic sense of difference" musing that as we go around day to day we don't notice the constant natural change of landscape and scenery that is evolving around us, something he draws attention to within his work. He does this by taking two separate images of the same scene at low and high tide, presenting them side by side representing the dramatic difference in landscape.

FLUXURE - Silent Auction Fundraiser
For our Fluxure exhibit we are organising a Silent Auction Fundraiser in order to raise some money. For the auction as a year group we have all been in contact with various artist's requesting donation's for the auction. As expected there has been a lot of lack in replies/donations so far, i contacts quite a few artists such as Tim Edgar and Michael Marten, to which i got a delightful surprise! After initially contacting Michael, he replied in good time offering a great donation to put forward for auction!
