Eeva Karhu (born Finland 1980) lives and works in Helsinki where she studies photography at the Helsinki School of Art & Design. By using the camera as her eye and taking hundreds of images of each object she catches the ambiance of places she has visited. These are then combined to one single image resulting in a series of impressionistic views and landscapes of the different seasons of the year.

The work of Eeva Karhu reminds me of that of Idris Kahn following the idea of layering images to create one singular 'super' image. Her work has been strongly influenced by the impressionists, in particular by Monet and Turner. She follows the concept of capturing a moment by using light and colour to create a certain atmosphere.
They way she represents change within her image highly appeals to me, the message the images convey to me is that no matter what season, different light/times of day in all the scene doesn't change but allows itself to take on different atmospheric appearances, which in all give her images depth and warmth with the range of colours and faded parts of the image.
